Festival of Light at Christmastime

7:30 pm, Wednesday, December 16, 2015
St Luke’s Church, 760 Somerset Street West

For many years Voice Emergent has packed St Luke’s for our celebration of traditional readings and carols on the third Wednesday of December. Usually we’ve had the added delight of music by members of Voice Emergent’s choral workshop, Sing Noel. This year Sing Noel did not run, so we are reverting to the original format of our festival which never failed to fill the church with happy voices. We’ll do the light centred readings from science, scriptures of ancient Egypt and India, aboriginal lore, mystical poetry and the Bible, and we’ll sing the old carols, by candle light, led by the inspiring music of St Luke’s magnificent pipe organ played by Bob Jones, St Luke’s music director. After it’s over we’ll go downstairs to the Church Hall for our traditional Christmas party with ginger snaps and hot mulled apple juice. Do come and join us for a joyful evening of community song, Wednesday evening, December 16th starting at 7:30.
